PLEASE FIND OUR
EQUITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
STATEMENT BELOW

At the MultiFunkIm lab, we believe that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and respected. We are committed to creating a lab environment where every individual—whether you're a student, a colleague from across the globe, a pregnant woman, or a parent—feels valued and supported.

We understand that life outside of the lab is complex, which is why we offer flexible work arrangements, parental leave, and a culture of understanding for our diverse team. Whether you’re balancing family and research or navigating a new country and culture, we are here to support you.

Our lab is built on the idea that true innovation happens when we bring together people from all walks of life, backgrounds, and experiences. Together, we create an inclusive, welcoming space where everyone can grow, contribute, and thrive.

We are committed to ensuring that you not only succeed in your work but also feel like you belong here, every step of the way. We organize regular meetings, not only to discuss research progress in the lab, but to monitor any eventual barriers or difficulties, before implementing methods to alleviate them. To foster personal development, every fellow is encouraged and accompanied within our team, to collect key data, to develop and validate new methods, to publish their work in peer-reviewed scientific journals as first author, to apply for scholarships, to submit abstracts and to present their work in international conferences.

Our laboratory already comprises gender equity, members with disabilities, members of visible minorities, and members of the lgbtq+ community, achieved through equitable and impartial interview practices involving the entire team. Our recruitment ads are written in non-gendered specific language and posted in different places to reach organizations for under-represented groups to promote our training opportunities. This strategy resulted in a diverse mix of cultures in the lab, creating an excellent atmosphere to foster creativity. Regular lab discussions are organized to strengthen our actions to ensure good EDI practices in lab life organization, proposing orientation sessions for new members and encouraging attendance to workshops organized by Concordia University’s Equity Office.
